Gold Found in the Black Hills-- cause of the Battle of little Big Horn in 1876 Natives won

Flooded the west because they found silver and gold and other precious metals, this caused a lot of trouble wth the Native Americans because they had been told that they could live there.
Indian reservations -- one in dakota area, another in oklahoma
but they found stuff in black hills in dakota.

Started to teach indians... tried to move the natives into the civilisation by educating them in the US ways.
